VascuStep — Privacy policy

Publisher: SOLLIST SRL · Contact: contact@sollist.co · Last updated: 29 September 2026

1. Verwerkingsverantwoordelijke

De verwerkingsverantwoordelijke is SOLLIST BV (KBO 1042.562.631), Louis Van Gorplaan 8, 1150 Sint-Pieters-Woluwe, België.

Voor vragen over uw gegevens: contact@sollist.co

2. Welke gegevens worden verwerkt

CategorieDetail
Locatie Zie punt 3 hieronder — bijzondere verwerking.

8. Uw gegevens wissen

VascuStep is an independent walking companion app for people with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). It is not affiliated with any hospital or healthcare institution.

This page describes exactly what data the app processes, why, and how you stay in control of it.

In short: the app never asks for your name, address or email. It shows no advertising. It sells no data. Your GPS positions are used only to compute the distance of an ongoing session — no route is ever stored. You can erase everything with two taps from within the app.

1. Data controller

The data controller is SOLLIST SRL (company number 1042.562.631), Avenue Louis Van Gorp 8, 1150 Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Belgium.

For any question about your data: contact@sollist.co

2. What data is processed

CategoryDetail
Profile Age, sex, cardiovascular risk factors you declare (diabetes, smoking, hypertension, etc.). No name, no address, no email, no national ID number. If you take part in a study, the optional study code given to you by the research team (for example VS-001).
Walking sessions Date, duration, step count, distance covered, pain onset distance (ICD), forced stop distance (ACD), walk/rest cycles.
WIQ questionnaire Your answers to the Walking Impairment Questionnaire and the computed scores.
Location See section 3 below — specific handling.

Profile, session and WIQ data constitute health data within the meaning of Article 9 GDPR and therefore benefit from enhanced protection.

3. Location (GPS)

The app uses your phone's GPS only during a walking session you started yourself. Successive positions are used to compute the distance covered, then immediately discarded.

Background location. So the measurement keeps running when your screen is locked or your phone is in your pocket, the app may access your location while it is not on screen. This access is explained inside the app before any permission is requested, and you may decline: the session will then only work while the app stays open on screen.

No route is stored. Only the total distance of the session is kept. Your GPS coordinates never leave your phone for this purpose, are never kept as a history, never shared, and never used for advertising.

One exception, subject to your location permission: to display weather advice for your session, an approximate position, rounded to about 1 km, is sent to the Open-Meteo service. That request contains no health data and no identifier relating to you.

4. Purposes and legal basis

  • Operating the app (recording and displaying your sessions, progress and reports) — legal basis: your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), collected on first use.
  • Letting you share a report with your doctor, if you choose to export one.
  • Following a study, only if you entered a study code: the research team then views your data under that code, without knowing who you are — same legal basis.

Your data is used for no other purpose: no advertising, no profiling, no resale, no automated decision-making.

5. Where your data is stored

  • On your phone, in the app's private storage.
  • On a Supabase server (Supabase Inc.), hosted in the Frankfurt, Germany (European Union — eu-central-1) region, so your sessions are not lost. Access is locked down by row level security rules: your device can only read your own data, and no other user can access it. The data controller has a protected administrator access, used only for technical maintenance and, if you entered a study code, for following the study.

The connection to the server is anonymous: the app creates a random technical identifier, with no email and no password. Your records are therefore not tied to any civil identity.

6. Recipients

Your data is not passed to any third party, except for the strictly necessary technical providers:

ProviderRoleData received
Supabase Inc.Database hostingProfile, sessions, WIQ results (without identity)
Open-MeteoWeather forecastApproximate position only
Expo (650 Industries Inc.)App updatesTechnical device data (IP address, app and system version), no health data

No data is sold, rented, or passed to advertising networks, data brokers, insurers or employers.

7. Retention

Your data is kept until you delete it. It is erased as soon as you request it — see the next section. Please delete it from within the app before uninstalling: uninstalling alone does not erase the server copy.

8. Deleting your data

In the app: Profile → Delete all my data. Deletion is immediate and permanent, both on your phone and on the server.

You may also request it by email at contact@sollist.co, which will be acted upon within 30 days at most.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have, at any time, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability regarding your data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent — without such withdrawal affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

To exercise them, write to contact@sollist.co.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels — dataprotectionauthority.be).

10. Security

Exchanges with the server are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access to records is restricted by row level security rules. Data held on your phone is protected by the operating system's application sandboxing.

11. Minors

The app is intended for adults being followed up for peripheral arterial disease. It is not intended for people under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data.

12. Medical disclaimer

VascuStep is a tool for tracking and recording your walking activity. It makes no diagnosis, prescribes no treatment, and in no way replaces the advice of your doctor or vascular surgeon. In case of unusual pain, worsening symptoms or doubt, consult a healthcare professional.

13. Changes

Any substantial change to this policy will be flagged in the app. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
